09 Sep focus52|2012 {week thirty-seven} september 9 to 15

Welcome to week thirty-seven, 52’rs! September is well underway and most of us are settling into the back to school/work routine. Well, we’re trying to, right? This week, I have what I hope will be a fun prompt for you all and although it requires a little bit of thought on your part (hey – mine too!) we’re still keeping things light around here for a little while yet. I’m all about cutting myself you some slack ;)

Everybody has a song that reminds them of a certain time, a certain place, a special someone. Maybe you hear a song and you can picture a scene in your head to go along with the lyrics or vice-versa, a scene you come across reminds you of a song. This week, I’d like you to capture a photo that represents your vision of a favorite (or not so favorite) song or song title. Any song at all, old or new, popular or obscure. You could also go ahead and take your photo first and then match it up with some song lyrics or titles. Whichever way you find easiest.

Confused? Maybe you’ll gain some inspiration from watching a few music videos. Or browsing a few CD or album covers. I also invite you to have a look at my flickr friend, Martin Fowlie’s photostream. Martin nearly always has a song to go along with whatever he posts and I always love seeing what he comes up with.

I’m happy to invite you to explore new options this week with your photography. Listen to the music around you, turn up the radio during your morning commute, dance with the kids, sing in the shower … and then get out your camera.

I hope you guys have some fun with this one, but whatever you decide to do this week, follow the prompt or not, come back here and share your work when you’re done (weeks run Sunday to Saturday, don’t forget!). Links must be to the direct URL of your actual work, not just to the site it’s posted in, and may be a link to your blog post or to your flickr photo (again, the actual photo, not your entire flickr stream). Also, please don’t link and run – try to find some time to visit at least a few of your fellow 52’ers. That’s half the fun! It’s a fact that those who link up early, get the most interaction on their work. Truth.
