SHINE - It's Really Quite Shameful

5 on 5 and a Three Years Late Blog Post

I’m not even sure I remember how to do this.

I’ve grown lazy over the past couple of years. I remember the days when I could sit down and write a mile-long blog post like it was no big thing, and then along came twitter and Facebook and instagram and whatever else you can think of, it’s there, and it’s all designed to “save you time” because you know, time is precious and attention spans are short and OMG if you’ve written more that 140 characters, well … ain’t nobody got time for that.

Right?

I’ve decided that I’VE got time for that.
Well, in theory at least.

In an attempt to both
a) get my new SHINE home up and running and,
b) put down my phone and pick up my camera, dammit,
I jumped right in when Kim innocently asked me “Hey, you want to do a 5 on 5?”

To which I replied, “What the hell is a 5 on 5?!!”

5 on 5: A group of friends and photographers who, on the fifth day of each month, post their five favourite photos from the month before and then link to the next photographer in the group.

Well ya, I’m in. And little did she know what she had set in motion. SHINE is basically (very basically) up and running, my previous hellish mess of photo files is now somewhat (less than somewhat) more organized, I actually DID pick up my camera more often, and

my house is a mess.

Whatever. Progress is progress.

So thank you Kim, for asking me if I’d like to join in and play. And without further ado (and maybe a tiny little drumroll) my 5 on 5 for January…

Just when I thought I'd travelled all of the backroads around here, I found another. And it was gorgeous!
SHINE - Rural Sunsets
This light. It stopped me in my tracks.
The Friday after work drive to unwind. Nothing better.
SHINE - The Red Rule
The Red Rule. You HAVE to shoot a pop of red. It's like a law or something. Or it should be.
SHINE - Through a Window
I'm sure this photo won't be for everybody, but there's something about it that I just love. Saturday morning, through my window.

I sense a theme here. Roads and more roads. Funny, I feel like I’ve been hibernating for a month, but clearly I’ve been out and about, taking in the beauty of winter.

The lovely and talented Kim Tackett is next up with her own favourites for this month’s 5 on 5. I hope you stop by and pay her a visit.

It’s good to be back.
