focus52 January 9 to 15

Week one has absolutely blown me away. I see everybody getting to know each other and commenting on posts, supporting each other … it’s fantastic. And what some of you did with the prompt! Our flickr pool is filling up with some amazing talent, I tell ya. I love it. To that end, this week’s prompt is …

CONNECT

(click to define)

The prompt can be interpreted in any way you like, in whatever medium you choose, and it’s entirely up to you whether or not you’d like to use it. Just have fun!

I found this quote tonight and quite liked it, so I messed around in photoshop a bit. It’s not much since I hadn’t planned on giving it out, but if you’d like to have the simple png file, you can download it here (personal use only please). The link will be good for this week only and contains this color version and a black and white version if you’d like to do your own thing with it.

(update: the freebie link is now expired)

The linky for last week’s work closes tomorrow at 9am EST so there’s still time to link up your stuff if you haven’t yet.

That’s it!  Get to it!

Have a great week and Happy Creating :)

EDIT: A few have asked about focus52 buttons for their blogs. They’re on the way!

got a question…when are we supposed to start linking up and adding to the flickr pool each week. i’m a bit confused. on flickr it says to wait til the weekend, but is it the same here on the blog since there is no linky thing goin’ on here at this post. please tell! curious minds need to know!

Yes, right now I have them both set up for the weekend, starting friday @ 5 EST until Monday morning at 9.
I’m really thinking about it though, and maybe switching to all week. My thought at the beginning was that having it on the weekend would give ALL posts a chance to be seen, because people tend to link and then get busy and not come back, y’know? So things get missed.
But come summer, weekends might not be the best plan.
Maybe I’ll put up a poll. See what everybody thinks. hmmm…

I don’t mean to sound like the resident statistics geek…LOL however, previous research has show that more people tend to read blogs during the week than over the weekends. The highest days for blog traffic are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, with Thursday nights leading the way for the highest amount of traffic.

So, what I do generally is I stick to the weekend guideline that you made, uploading on the weekend…but then, doing the “sharing” process via Networked Blogs, FB and Twitter once Monday rolls around. The only thing that sometimes gets problematic I think would be if you were to make another post between the time you put up your project…and then, the Monday deadline. You have to be careful to make sure you link up to the actual work as opposed to just your blog or it takes you to the latest page you have written.

Are you following what the hell I am talking about…because honestly, I think I lost myself somewhere around the word “Thursday”. I was up until 5am playing rock band with my BFF’s…and I haven’t been to sleep yet. LOL

Actually, a quick re-read of this post suggests I have no clue WHAT I am talking about after the word Thursday, so feel free to disregard this. The only reason I am not erasing it is because I know my stupid drivel tends to make you laugh. LOL

I think leaving it open for the full week is probably a good idea though. If someone was planning to go away for the weekend, leaving Friday for example…and not getting home until late sunday…then having to get up for work on Monday, they would lose their window. Just a thought.

I think I might just extend the link up here until late into Monday.

Oh that’s a little challenge. I’m curious, what motive is me on the road or in front of the lens. :) I’m looking foward.

So we can still add our projects from previous weeks to Flickr, right?! It took me a little while to figure out what my project was going to be but I’ve got it figured out now. :)
