crazy is as crazy does {147/365}

If there’s one thing I’ll swear by, it’s Full Moon = Craziness.

People generally begin to lose their minds during the few days leading up to the full moon. Emotions run high and you’re more likely to knock heads with someone. The night of? You’re better off staying at home. Trust me. I was a bartender for years. I have stories.

Utter. Chaos.

Plus, you know … there’s that whole werewolf thing to worry about.

Anyways ….

I shot this at around 1:15am, so it’s technically my shot for the day. Way early :)

147/365

I’ve tried (in vain) quite a few times to get a shot of the moon. But this time, and thanks to this little project, I’m a little bit (a very little bit) more knowledgeable in the manual settings area. I don’t think it turned out half bad. Definitely scads of room for improvement, but hey, I’ve progressed from a mere blob of white. heh.

I’m off to check my garlic supply.

Oh wait. That’s vampires.

Silver bullets :)

Really, really nice. I’ve yet to try to capture the moon, but I’m inspired by the detail and “largeness” you’ve managed to get here. I’d step outside and see what I could do … if the crazies weren’t out in full force all over town here.

My dad used to work the ER a lot when I was younger, and it was almost a monthly ritual … I would wait for him to come home the morning after the full moon and tell me all the weird stories. Never once was I disappointed. Weeeeeeeird.

Wonderful capture of the moon. Looks like a biog melon on the dark sky. I like the monochrome pp on this too.

Well I would have to say this is one great shot of the moon! I too have tried many times to do this and always end up with that white blob you spoke of. Please share your knowledge so that slow learners like me can gain from your expertise.

Pfftttt .. I don’t know what the hell I’m doing. I tried all sorts of things.
I used my 75-300mm for this. As for settings, mostly I went for a tad underexposed knowing I could fix it later (except for the one that was totally black. heh) and I left the ISO at 400 because my camera is really getting bad with noise (been meaning to look into if that’s an old age thing, heh – seriously it’s getting bad) but I would’ve like to have tried it higher. Super fast shutter (because that sucker is bright!) and I left the wb on evaluative because I didn’t know what the heck to do with that. LOL! So they were orange-ish. I corrected. I didn’t do a monochrome as Sasi up there assumed. It’s just the wb.
This is not SOOC. I did have to adjust in lightroom. Turned up the blacks and adjusted the exposure. Oh and def turned down the noise. LOL!
There’s a camera shop here in town that has mini-workshops and one of them is an evening of night shooting. I think I’m going to take it. They hold it on the night of a full moon too :)

Nice shot! The moon was covered in haze the other night and I didn’t have my camera :( Not that I think with my kit lens that I could have gotten a shot lol

I think we were separated at birth.

Last weekend we were on the boat when my friend asked me if I could take a daytime shot of the moon. It was right above us, bright as day (ha ha). I took a few shots, and then opened them in PSE. Tried as I might, I couldn’t get it to look right. It’s still in the to do pile.

Lightroom is 100% better for making those types of adjustments. Honestly, soooo much easier. And non-destructive.
Easier even more especially if you start shooting in raw. I started a few months ago and forgot to mention that. ooops. Definately does make life easier when you mess up.

      Thanks K!
I went and looked and left a comment.
And then drooled some more over your new puppy.
I’ll say it again … you stole him from Disney, I swear. :)

Ok, so after reading what you did and also looking into Katrina’s link I think that I shall now go shoot the moon, (unless the skeeters run me back inside)!
